Temporary Closure of Prudhoe Community High School

As per recommended guidance by structural engineers and site investigators, Prudhoe Community High School has been closed.
Last week, a number of cracks were identified in the structure of the school building. Immediately, structural engineers were appointed to investigate the cause and seriousness of the cracks. Site investigations included a review of the structural elements of the building, its ground conditions and the potential impact of any recent weather events.
As a safety precaution, a decision has been taken for the school to be closed whilst that investigation is ongoing and the Trust is working with Northumberland County Council and the Department for Education in that regard.
We anticipate that the outcome of the current investigations will be available to us before the end of February. We will provide an update when we are in a position to do so. In the meantime, the school is arranging for learning to be supported with online resources.
Our primary concerns are safety and the continuity of our pupils’ education, and each decision we make keeps these at the forefront.
