Prudhoe Community High School Senior Leadership Team Works to Get PCHS at Washington Campus Ready for Students

Since the closure of the Prudhoe Community High School building in February, the PCHS staff, Cheviot Learning Trust Staff, Northumberland County Council and DfE have been working hard to find a solution that helps students return to face-to-face learning.
Thanks to Sunderland College, the resolution is in sight, with students moving into the Washington Campus on March 31st.
While it might sound simple to move into another educational building, there is a lot of work to be done, and thanks to the help of some local suppliers and the Senior Leadership Team at PCHS, the Washington campus building is being prepped to take students in and make it feel like their own.
The building has been prepped with the moving of furniture from the old building and prepping the Washington campus building with help from Ashington Removals and FM4U.
A floor plan has been created and shared with all students to help make sure students can see an outline of where their classes are and where all amenities are in the building.
Headteacher Annmarie Moore says, “We are looking forward to welcoming all of our students and staff back to face to face learning at our new site, PCHS@Washington. It has been such a team effort to get to where we are, and we are grateful to everyone who has given their time so generously to support us in our move to Washington.”
Prudhoe Community High School and Cheviot Learning Trust have seen an outpouring of support from the community throughout these times, and they wish to thank everyone for their patience and kindness throughout this difficult time.
The words of a PCHS parent help both the school and the Trust feel like they are supported, and are proud of the community they have created: “Every discussion about what the plan ahead might be has taught my children about collective thinking and given them a sense of community and togetherness. Thank you for your flexibility, patience and resilience in response to a time of upheaval and uncertainty. By modelling this behaviour, you have taught my children the greatest lesson of their lives. You have shown them how to cope, adapt and remain calm when life takes difficult twists and turns.”
Cheviot Learning Trust wishes to thank the community, Sunderland College, Northumberland County Council and the DfE for all their support. Most importantly, though, the Trust wishes to thank PCHS staff and students for their tenacity and resilience.
CEO Alice Witherow says, “We are really pleased to be welcoming pupils back to face to face education on Monday. Thanks to the senior team of Prudhoe High (pictured with project manager Mark Jerden) and all the school staff who will join them today to sort furniture and equipment ready for pupils next week. It has been a logistical effort on all fronts, buses, IT, furniture removals, cleaning, repairs - a huge amount has been achieved.”
We look forward to seeing the PCHS at Washington campus thrive!
